Hi loves, my 2015 has been a year of transition, can you relate? Lots of good and challenging events happening, the ending of a significant romantic relationship, graduating our first group of yoga teachers at my studio, leaving a job i've been at for a decade, even re-vamping this blog. WOWZA! So much has happened in the last 12 months.
If I had to narrow it down I'd say there are 4 pillars (other than awesome friends of course) that have carried me through this gigantic period of transition. Fitness, creativity, yoga and my meditation practice. These pillars hold me up in life and they're the pillars of what i'll be sharing with you in this blog.
I believe that everyone deserves to live a life they love. Why settle for less? It might be cliche but we only get one life. I've not always lived this mantra, but I do now. When I started in corporate america I thought I had to change myself to fit the mold of what the corporation wanted me to look like in order to succeed, that is not the definition of living a life you love, that is a recipe for unhappiness. It took me some time, but I found the right path for me through my four pillars; fitness, creativity, yoga and mediation.
Whether you're just starting out in your career, dreaming of starting your own business or trying to climb the corporate ladder, these pillars can help you build and channel your dreams as well.
Putting in my time within the 4 walls of a cubicle by day, I know intimately the heaven and hell corporate america plays in the lives of many. In the last decade while toiling away at the day job I've become a faithful student of yoga and eventually opened a yoga studio while keeping my day job.
What I'm learning on this journey and want to share is that creativity, fitness, yoga and mindfulness have given my life a meaning that I didn't know existed. When you uncover something that has been so entirely life changing for the better you can't help but want to share it with others. That is what I'm doing here.
The grueling days trapped inside a muted office year after year helped me develop my diligence, discipline, and foster my love of the benefits of routine. These office years also helped incubate my dreams of opening a yoga studio so that I could share yoga and mindfulness with others. It feels like the time is right to now grow my yoga community a little wider than my sweet yoga studio in Greensboro, NC with this blog, Yoke and Abundance.
If you want to learn yoga, start a business, foster more personal creativity, or bring more mindfulness into your daily life, you're in the right spot.
Grab a cup of french pressed coffee and say hello! I can't wait to share this journey with you.
