Saturday coming through the customs line feeling a bit sick to my stomach and looking like road kill a large bald man behind fire proof glass in the Philladelpha airport asked me what my profession was. I paused for a moment taken aback. A huge smile plastered itself across my face, I looked him in the eyes and said, I'm a life coach. That was the first official time I'd gotten to utter those words. To my complete surprise this gruff and scary looking man lit up from the inside out. "You are? That's great!" he said, with a line of people behind me at least an hour long he proceeded to ask me about the books I've been reading and workshops I've attended showing his genuine personal interest in the topic. That was the happiest i've ever felt walking away from a customs officer.
I've never been so excited for a Monday to come. Yesterday I allowed myself the time to get my house put back together, laundry done, grocery shopping completed and time to rest knowing that I wanted to hit the ground running on Monday. Boundaries will be important in this life and I want to make sure I start off on the right foot.
Today is the official first day of my new job as life coach. My To-Do list is a mile long and I couldn't be happier. I'm excited to get down to business with all of the work before me. I've laid out a few guiding principles for this new job and I wanted to share them with you.
Daily Guiding Principals For My Work Day:
1) Do something to show gratitude and be of service to someone else.
Because if life it isn't about showing gratitude and helping others I don't know what it's about
2) Learn something new about your business
There is so much to learn and so many ways to develop every aspect of this business. Growth and learning are critical
3) Do something to generate revenue
Because we work for more than one reason and food and paying bills are great reasons.
Health is one of the most important assets we have. Running, doing yoga and choosing my bike over my car are keys to this new life.
Mindfulness is a key to unlocking the blocks that stand in our way.
I've also put together a Vision and a Mission statement to guide my business. It's currently a work in progress but i thought I'd share it with you also.
Vision: To help empower women to live the life of their dreams. To help women make choices that bring them closer to their true selves. To help women give voice to their dreams and work towards their truest desires.
Mission: To work with women through my coaching programs, workshops, private yoga sessions and retreats to help women live the life of their dreams.
My company Yoke and Abundance is servicing the person running it (me) just as much as it serves the women it has the privilege of working with. Health is one of my 5 core values and I get to build this business in a way that aligns with my core values from day one. That means slowing way down. This might sound counter intuitive to current business practices but I don't mind being outside the norm. From today on, I choose to slow down, make healthy choices in my relationships, business practices and life in general. That means choosing my bike over my car when possible, it means doing yoga or running every day, it means building in time to meditate and truly connect with those around me. It also means being 100% present for the women I serve. I'm honored to live this life, build this business and work with such incredible women. Thanks for being a part of this journey!
