The Runners Monday: Getting Up to Run

Do you go work out on Monday Mornings?

Do you get up and run, go to the gym, or do yoga?  I don't know about you, but I love the feeling of working out in the morning.  I don't know what it is, but it seems to put me on the right track for the rest of the day.  The problem is that working out in the morning is very difficult.  Right?  I'm a morning person and I think it's difficult.  Even if I'm up, (which normally I am) it doesn't mean that I want to get out of my bed!  So friends while I very very much want you to come join me for Yoga at 6am on Tuesdays and Thursday, when you aren't there, well as much as I hate to say it, I do understand.

But back to the running, I know that if I don't just get up and go, well then I may have blown working out for the whole day.  After all you and I both know that after work there are so many other fun things to do and wonderful people to see that will tempt me away from running in the dark and often cold weather by myself.  Ultimately if I don't make it out in the morning I know I'll hate myself all day long.

That makes Monday's super hard.  I know that I need to get up and just go.  Luckily today I had a running buddy to venture out into the Dark and Early morning with me!  It was my AWESOME friend EMILY!  Emily gets Mega Mega Bonus points for letting me drag her out super early on Mondays and Fridays to put some miles on our running shoes.  If you want to run with me in the mornings you also can have Mega Mega friend bonus points!


Today we ran three miles and we were fast, definitely under 30 minutes.  It was an excellent run, but it was so hard to get to the running, and I don't understand why that is.  Why are morning so hard?  Do you have an tricks to make getting out of bed any less hard on Monday mornings?  Even if it's not to work out, maybe you have tricks for getting out of bed on Monday's for work?  Even when you love what you are getting up to do for some reason it can be difficult.  How do you form healthy habits?

Wednesday I'm supposed to run 5 Miles and I want to start working on Speed drills.  I want to get faster, but the problem is I hate speed drills, uggh.  That is unfortunate right?  Well, I think I need to suck it up and just do it.  Speed drills = faster.  You want to come do speed drills with me?  Wednesday the weather is supposed just plain be poor, which means I'll have to run after work tomorrow.  You can join me if you'd like.  I promise we can find a way to make it fun, but really running is fun especially if you have some one completely awesome like Emily to do it with!
