Do you have a special Aunt?
Someone absolutely amazing? Maybe you are related by blood, maybe someone you lovingly call an aunt, but not an aunt by blood?? Well, My Aunt Gina is Spectacular, my favorite Aunt by blood (I can say that with out hurting feelings because she is my only blood aunt :))!
We talk a lot early on saturday and sunday mornings. I'm an early riser, and I don't just mean early, I mean EARLY! I know that if it's 4:30am on a saturday or sunday I can call my Aunt Gina and she will happily pick up the phone and talk to me. She rises as early as I do, we'll chat for hours at a time. It's fantastic
My Beautiful Aunt Gina and Me
Aunt Gina and I were both in Mexico and we decided that while we were there we would take a day trip. Mayan Adventures Day Trip! My Cousin David and his Beautiful wife Angela had done this day trip the day before , and they highly recommended it.
Gina and had no Idea what an amazing time we would have. It started by visiting the Mayan Ruins.
Each level of the ruin took them about 7 years to complete. A full one of these babies takes 54 years to complete. The average age of a mayan was 54 years. These would take a lifetime to build... Can you imagine?
The Mayan's play this odd game, and the winner had to do a little blood letting. In some cultures they killed the winner of the ball game, but not in the Mayan culture. The Mayans were more "civilized", they just did a blood brother thing.
Adventure day with my aunt was pretty darn cool. After we looked at some of the ruins we rented bikes to ride down to the big one!
The above picture is totally not the most flatering of me, but whatever... life is short and this pic is an example of the care free wonderfulness (no that's not a word, but I'm using it) of the day so I'm gonna give you the good, the bad and the ugly. Don't worry, you'll see, there are some uglies of me coming up...
Ok, it's way blurry, but I thought maybe it would make you feel like you were there on the bike with me :)
And Yes, it's blurry, but you try taking a picture while you're on a moving bike :)
Maybe the picture doesn't make this look that big, but I assure you it is, it is very very big and quite the hike up!
After the ruins we went to a Mayan house hold. Where there were lots of different kinds of animals.
Ok, so I'm really not sure what this guy is. I asked if it was a wart hog and I was told "no". He gave me a name, but it was in spanish and so I'll call him the mystery Animal.
The sad part of this day is that our craziest most fun adventures I don't have pictures of. We did a zip cord over alligator infested waters, hiked through the jungle, experienced a Mayan ritual, repelled into a cave of water, swam around and then climbed up a rope latter to get out. Gina went canoeing and I swam in an alligator lake :) Then we had a delicious Mayan lunch!!! OMG it was such a yummy meal!
All in all it was simply a magical day. I hope that are lucky enough to have an Aunt as cool as I do. Someone so special you're life wouldn't be the same without them. I know I'm very very lucky!
Ann’s arrival in my life felt like a long slow eclipse, I feared that there would be a day I would be totally blotted out by her orbit.
