It's Wise Women Wednesday, each week I interview a woman that I believe is inspiring, living abundantly and following her passions. These are all women who live a life of abundance and bring creativity into the world.
Q. Who are you? What is your background?
A. I’m a high-energy, upbeat, multi-passionate seeker, sharer and stoker of all things filled with love, light and color. I’m what you might call a ‘kaleidoscopic change catalyst’. I’m a language lovin’ word-nerd, punster, meme maker, and queen of quips hot for meaningful communication and connection with other people of the world. I am a consumer of experience, citizen of the world (serial expat), and student of life, for life. I am KRISellaneous! Well, that’s my handle online.
Q. What is your work?
A. For me, it’s not really about “work”. It’s more about embracing what I am called to do, realizing what I can do, and advancing those actions and that mindset in each and every encounter. So, while my official title is “teacher” (of language, yoga and mindfulness), I don’t consider this position to be a “job”. It is not a task, duty, labor or otherwise work. It is not something that I have to do, but rather something I get to do. It is a grand experience. One that does not define me, but refines me. One that does not restrict me, but releases me. One that does not limit me, but launches me. It is not only my calling, but also my answer.
Q. What is one project you are excited to be working on right now?
A. One? One? OMG that number throws me into a tailspin. But, if you insist, I’d say that I’m totally jazzed to be writing my first book! It’s a creative non-fiction companion for people (mostly women, probably) who want to make a change, shake things up a bit, transform the mundane into marvelous…who want MORE out of life.
Q. What is one thing you've done recently that's scared you and took courage, but you're glad you did?
A. There’s that number (one) again. ;-) Well, perhaps the most recent scary thing I did was book the (non-refundable) accommodations for my first retreat that I’m hosting in Kyoto, Japan, October 27th-29th. It was scary and thrilling all at the same time. So, now, I’m off and running on creating the sales page and will soon be ready to splash it out to the world. So, stay tuned or save the date for “From East to Zest - Not Yo’ Typical Yoga Retreat”!
Q.What is the work you most want to be doing and are you doing it? If not why not what's stopping you?
A. I am definitely doing what I want to be doing. I’d just like to be doing MORE of it! The only thing stopping me is that I am only 1 person with only 24 hours a day, and only 2 feet and 2 hands.
Q. What would you tell your high school or college self?
A. You REALLY can do or be whatever you want to! Don’t wait for anything or anyone. You have all the power you need.
Q. What's one piece of advice or motto you love and use in your daily life that you would like to share with my sweet readers?
A. Okay, I can’t go on with this ‘one’ stuff anymore. Here are my top three:
1.) My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style. ~ Maya Angelou
2.) The only real failure in life is the failure to try; and the measure of success is how you cope with disappointment. ~ Deborah Moggach
3.) Yoga isn’t just something to do; it’s everything to be. ~me (Kristina Eisenhower)
Q. What keeps you creating when you don't feel like it?
A. Cocktails! Just kidding (sorta). I think when I don’t feel like creating, I’m restricting, or diminishing myself. But when I have (or make my own) cocktails, I loosen up, lighten up, and expand myself (and I become more animated). I become the life of my own party, and inevitably I come up with some new idea, action or attitude that I can make happen.
Q. Anything else you'd like to share?
A. I think what you are doing is a beautiful thing — connecting women, creating and holding space for them, and spreading your own incredible light on the world! Shine on, Love. Shine on.
Q. What's your favorite yoga pose?
A. King Pigeon pose. In this pose, my heart is open, my drishti (outlook) is up, and I feel ready to take flight.
Q. How do you live a life of abundance?
A. By seeking more, doing more, and being more!
