Q. Who are you? What is your background?
A. Hello! My name is Susel Dépinoy and I am a 30 something-year-old woman who is still in the process of finding myself and trying to figure out what I want to do when I grow up! I moved to US from the Philippines when I was 10, called the great state of MN my home until very recently when I moved to Greensboro, NC in the summer of 2017 for my husband’s work. I studied social work in college and was in the mental health field for 9 years before completely switching career paths. I’m the biggest dog lover you will ever meet, my biggest dream is to buy land and build an animal rescue sanctuary!
Q. What is your work?
A. Until very recently, I was the marketing coordinator for a snack company based in Minneapolis called WholeMe. Currently, I am looking for a new marketing job! I recently just accepted a part time role at the new Athleta that will be opening in GSO this month as their Community Coordinator.
Q. What is one project you are excited to be working on right now?
A. Myself! I consider myself a project at the moment since I don’t have a direct path that’s leading my day to day life.
Q. What is one thing you've done recently that's scared you and took courage, but you're glad you did?
A. I hope it’s ok to share something that’s not so recent but leaving a high paying, comfortable, job not just once but twice (2 different companies) was scary but it had to be done and I am super happy that I did it.
Q. What is the work you most want to be doing and are you doing it? If not, why not? What's stopping you?
A. My job as the marketing coordinator for WholeMe was a dream job! Before that, I was in a job where I had set hours, sat behind a cubicle, and I didn’t have any creative freedom at all. And I remember thinking that I wanted a job where I could have more freedom with hours, with where I can work, and really a completely different type of career. When I was given the opportunity to work for WholeMe, it was like my dream job was handed to me. I loved it! So I am now in the process of finding another job like it!
Q. What would you tell your high school or college self?
A. I would tell my high school self to stop worrying about boys so much! hahaha
Q. What's one piece of advice or motto you love and use in your daily life that you would like to share with my sweet readers?
A. “Be the person your dog already thinks you are” or “Your energy speaks before you even open your mouth” . Dogs have this trust in humans, fortunately, or unfortunately, and think that you’re just the greatest person ever so my goal is to be the person they think I am! And I wholeheartedly believe in living a high vibration life, and that your energy speaks for you before you even utter one word!
Q. What keeps you creating when you don't feel like it?
Q. Anything else you'd like to share?
A. I am grateful that we moved to Greensboro because I’ve had the opportunity to meet so many kick-ass women in this community!!
Q. What's your favorite yoga pose?
A. half pigeon because it feels soooooo goooooddddd.
Q. How do you live a life of abundance?
A. I surround myself with people that inspire me, that motivates me. The older I get, the more I realize that I can say no and never be around toxic people!
