One of the most fun things about owning your own business is getting to find ways to show your teachers you appreciate them.  I like to have an annual gathering at my house for our yoga teachers.  This one was long overdue.

It's fun to prepare the house, make sure it's extra clean, and then go about preparing the food and put together goodie bags while thinking about ways to entice dialog that will help us get to know one another a little better.

To get to know each other a little better we played the game "two truths and a lie".   You tell two truths and one lie about yourself and the group has to figure out which one is the lie.  As yoga teachers some of the teachers couldn't quite get it right and they ended up telling three truths.  Very funny.  Nikki seemed to be the best at calling bullsh*t and was able to detect everyone's lie.

It was so much fun to learn more about these lovely teachers.  Greensboro Downtown Yoga has an incredible group of talented teachers and we are poised to bring you lots and lots of great yoga.

Yoga Ladies!

Last night I had the privilege of meeting up with two of the girls that were in my same yoga teacher training program at the Asheville Yoga Center last year.  We all Graduated from our nine month program together last fall.

I don't think I talk to you enough about yoga on this little blog of mine, and I think I should change that.

Yoga, is such an amazing vehicle to get you to where you want to go.  Yoga in the words of a dear friend "Can teach you so much about yourself.  It can help you become more flexible in body, mind and soul".

Do you practice yoga?  Do you want to practice yoga?

I've been studying yoga for almost 10 years.  This journey actually began when I was a senior in high school.  I took Christmas/birthday money and signed up to take the only yoga class in Toledo OH that I could find.  As luck would have it the class was titled "Easy does it yoga".  From the title maybe you can guess, I ended up being the youngest person in the class by about 20 years.  Oddly enough that didn't seem to phase me at all!  The class was geared toward yoga for restoration, and relaxation.  Mainly deep yogic stretching, with a focus on the gentle parts of yoga, not to mention the breath.

If you know me now, you know that my favorite type of yoga is the type that will kick your a**!!!  Major work out, builds stamina, upper body strength and helps turn you into a Bad A**!!!  Personally the more physically challenging a class, the easier it is to help me find the breath, hunker in, let the movement become a meditation and help propel me into the deeper places yoga is supposed to take you.

You may be surprised to learn this but, as a senior in high school, I was not the athlete I am today.  I didn't like to run, or play sports, basically if it wasn't theater I didn't really want anything to do with it.  The "Easy Does It" yoga class, at the time, was the perfect door in which I could access what would become a life long passion.  If that first class, would have been a super difficult power flow, vinyasa, or ashtanga class, I most likely would have quit.  I'm so thankful for that "Easy Does It" class I took over ten years ago, for it sparked something precious and has lead me to so many other wonderful things in the world of yoga.

So many of my friends and family resist yoga.  Maybe, it's because they are bashful about practicing in a group of strangers, maybe they think it will be too easy or too hard.  Sometimes, I think people just assume yoga is waaayyyy too out there.  They think it's some sort of weird cult or religion.

For me I teach yoga because yoga no matter what form, will teach you about yourself.  I adore helping people become more connected to themselves.  It's an absolute privilege to be able to share yoga with others.

In last year's yoga teacher training, not only did I learn a lot more about myself, I bonded with some of the most beautiful, talented, strong, unique, and caring woman I may ever have met and it's nothing short of a miricle to know they've been a part of my life.

To quote a famous poet, "I carry you in my heart" ladies.
