Q. Who are you? What is your background?

A. The first word I think of when I ponder this question is ‘Survivor’.  I am a survivor.

My name is Bernadette Deveroix- Fox. I grew up in Arkansas. I am the 7th of 9 children. I am an entrepreneur of 17 years and a Pastry Chef of 30 years. Desserts, Soups, hors d’oeuvres, petit fours, and the art of fire, food and fine dining captured my attention when I was a young lady and has held me hostage ever since. I am a 2-time Gold medal Winner through the Michigan Restaurant Association. (All my life I hid them away, but these days I have been challenging myself to mention them!)

Before coming to the East Coast seven years ago, my son and I operated a premier cake shop in Oklahoma with an emphasis on taste and art.

Q. What is your work?
A. I am a newly licensed North Carolina Insurance Agent. My job is to educate my clients and help them make better financial choices for their loved ones.

Q. What is one project you are excited to be working on right now?
A. I am excited about the things I’ve learned in the Annuity/Life Insurance world. I am looking forward to sharing  my findings with my new clients.

Q. What is one thing you've done recently that's scared you and took courage, but you're glad you did?
A. Moving to North Carolina from Richmond, Virginia! I came here to assist a friend after a mutual friend of ours passed away of Breast Cancer.

Q. What is the work you most want to be doing and are you doing it?  If not why not what's stopping you?
A. I have a desire to open up a Cooking Studio that caters to teen girls. I want to teach Life Skills through the art of cooking!

What’s stopping me?

Finances and the right business partner.

Q. What would you tell your high school or college self?
A. Remember to continue doing well to others, but never forget to be good to yourself. I was in my early 40’s before I began the process of learning to my ‘inner me’.

Q. What's one piece of advice or motto you love and use in your daily life that you would like to share with my sweet readers?
A. Set aside some time to reflect…..just the quiet, you and God!

We were created for worship; to spread peace and love. When it is all said and done, Love is all that matters. I have had many trials and tribulations in this life and with each one came powerful lessons, but I think the greatest impact on my life is the actual reality that there is something; someone greater than me in control. We are not here alone and we were all born with a specific purpose. I have found life to be a lot easier when I connect with God at the breaking of morning. Lately, I have been in awe that He affords me a brand new day and one more chance to get it right.

Q. What keeps you creating when you don't feel like it?
A. My Mother told to Never Stop! Though she is no longer here, I can still hear her encouraging me on.

Q. Anything else you'd like to share?
A. J. P. Morgan said, “Go as far as you can see; when you get there, you’ll be able to see farther. This is my favorite quote!

Q. How do you live a life of abundance?
A. These days, I find myself focusing more on the intangible than those things I can physically touch. I believe the things we cannot tangibly vtrace; things like the Spiritual, integrity and character hold their weight in gold. I try to live with an open, grateful and humble heart.  I believe the universe is such that ‘what you throw out there comes back to you’. God has afforded me a beautiful family, loving and loyal friends, good health, life and life more abundantly!
